Is this for me?
- Who is this for?
- Adults who understand more English than they can say — roughly A2 to B2. You follow films and read articles, then freeze or simplify when you speak. That gap is the work.
- Will you understand my background?
- Probably, yes. I live in Minsk and have taught Russian-speaking adults for about a decade — work, moving abroad, daily life. You will not spend the hour explaining your life.
- Do you prepare students for IELTS or other exams?
- No. This is a conversation class — unscripted speaking with honest feedback. If you need exam preparation, I'm not the right fit.
- Do you teach children, or beginners?
- No to both, I'm afraid. Adults 18+ only, and the work starts where you already have some English — around A2 and up. From zero, a course will serve you better than conversation with me.

- Why do I understand English but freeze when I have to speak?

- How do I know if my speaking is actually improving?

- Why does English progress feel invisible even when I study?

- Is it normal that harder sentences make me sound worse?
- When you reach for harder sentences you stumble more. That is stretching, not getting worse. I am Jon Weaver; I listen for complexity, accuracy and fluency separately because they do not rise together. That is a teaching picture, not a dashboard. - How can I measure spoken English without IELTS or a score?

- What should I do every day if I cannot see whether speaking is moving?

The lessons
- Who will I talk to — is it always you?
- Always me — Jon Weaver. There is no pool of tutors: you book me directly. If I am ever too ill to teach, we reschedule — you are not handed to another teacher.
- What is a lesson like?
- Fifty-five minutes on Zoom, 1:1, unscripted. We talk about what matters to you, and I listen for how it comes out. You should leave the hour a bit more confident than you came in.
- What if I freeze or go blank?
- Then we have found the work. Freezing is not failing the class — it is what the class is for.
- Will you correct my mistakes while I am speaking?
- Not mid-flow — stopping you every sentence kills the speaking. I note things while you talk, and we work on them at the right moments. Accuracy is trained in the lesson, not by interrupting it.
- What do I get after a lesson?
- A receipt: what I heard, how much you talked, up to three marks from the Zoom, and one next step. Not a score. Not a level.
- How soon will I see progress?
- I won't promise a timeline — anyone who does is selling something. What you get is evidence: a receipt after every class, and over weeks the pattern shows you the movement.

- How much does it cost?
- Five standing memberships. Free is £0. App is £10 a month, Monthly hour £35 a month, Weekly £90 / 4-week cycle, Twice weekly £180 / 4-week cycle. Annual is 10% off: 12× for App and Monthly hour, 13× for Weekly and Twice weekly. The full breakdown lives on the pricing page.
- Which membership should I choose?
- For the daily habit without the hour: Free or App. To speak with me: Monthly hour is the start, Weekly if work needs English now, Twice weekly if you are pushing. When in doubt, start small.
- Is there a free option — or a trial?
- Free is a standing membership, not a trial: no charge, no obligation to buy, and it lasts. There is no trial and no single-lesson purchase — Free is the honest way to try it.
- What do the paid memberships add?
- App (£10) is the daily habit done properly: you choose what to read, the video comes with questions, and you get a short CALFA note after your 60 seconds — a pointer, not a lesson report. Monthly hour (£35) adds one 55-minute speaking hour a month; Weekly (£90) is one a week; Twice weekly (£180) is two. Learn and the lesson report open once you have had a class.
- I bought lesson credits before. Are they still valid?
- No. Leftover credits are not a current new-sale path.
The app
- What is the daily habit?
- Speak for 60 seconds and get a basic idea of your level — a pointer, not a formal assessment. Read a short article, watch a short video. A little every day beats three hours on a Sunday.
- Is the app AI? Am I talking to a bot?
- No. AI helps with the practice and the evidence work between lessons. The speaking — the hour itself — stays human. That is the point.
Practicalities
- How do I start?
- Create a free account on the learn app, fill in a short intake, and choose a membership. You can see my available times before you pay — I am in Minsk — then book. The class is on Zoom, with me.
- Can I cancel or reschedule a lesson?
- Yes — more than 24 hours before the lesson. Late cancel or no-show: no automatic refund.
- How do I pay?
- By card, after you sign up, to Jon Weaver English — me, as a UK sole trader. Prices are in pounds sterling. Cards issued in Belarus or Russia depend on the issuing bank — if one doesn't go through, that is usually why.
